Abstract	We Need to Talk About the Backlash—What Is to Be Done? a Report prepared for CSHPS, CSWIP, the CPA, and the Federation for the Social Sciences and Humanities, addressing the current political backlash against feminism, critical race theory, gender theory and “woke-ism” in the academy and beyond. A recent extreme example of this backlash was the violent attack on a professor teaching a philosophy of gender course at the University of Waterloo in the summer of 2023.
