Abstract | In this paper, we present an update of the data on the (under)representation of women in Philosophy in the Italian Universities we gathered at the end of 2018. As stated in the 2018 report, we decided to update the SWIP Italia report every two years, in order to monitor trends of development in Philosophy compared to other scientific areas. We also decided to update this survey every year more specifically with regard to the data about the presence of women and men in the Italian University ranks in the Philosophy area. Therefore, in 2019 we made a second survey, specifically dedicated to the Philosophy area, whereas in 2020 we engaged in the complete update of the data from 2018. Moreover, in 2020 we decided to extend our research under two main respects: 1) we compared the data we collected for the Philosophy area with other scientific areas, beyond those already considered at the end of 2018; 2) we gathered data on the presence of women and men in the XXXIII cycle of Italian PhD programs including philosophical scientific sectors, in order to start analyzing the presence of women, as compared to that of men, in Philosophy in Italian universities from the very start of their academic post-graduate career. |
